Aftercare Advice
If this is your first time to have enhancements, they may take a bit of getting used to. The best way to do this is keep the first set short and retrain yourself to use the pads of your fingers rather than your nails. Regular maintenance appointments will also help keep them looking their best.
Take extra care when opening car doors, cupboards, dishwashers, ring pulls on cans, etc, as these are the worst offenders when it comes to catching a nail.
Wear rubber gloves when doing household chores to protect from cleaning agents.
Use a good quality cuticle oil such as EzFlow Essential Oil Plus or Creative's Solar Oil every day. This will keep your enhancements flexible, so should you accidentally break one, it will cause minimum damage to your natural nail. It also promotes healthy nail growth.
Only use 'non-acetone' nail polish remover. Acetone based removers will break down your nail enhancements.
| Nail Enhancements
Nail enhancements (extensions) should enhance your nails, not make them look fake. Using only top quality products assures that I can keep them very thin and flexible, and therefore very natural looking.
However, should you fancy being a bit more daring, why not browse through my gallery to see various ideas on the different kind of nails that are available.
There are many different designs to choose from, these can be adapted to your requirements, your mood, or even to suit an outfit for a special occasion.
Ehancements are also ideal for nailbiters and people with weak or damaged nails, as they offer protection while the natural nail grows safely underneath. Problem or missing toenails can also be transformed (see gallery)
Methyl MethAcrylate (MMA) is a monomer (liquid) used in some nail enhancements. It is normally found in unlabelled bottles and has a very strong odour. As it does not bond with the natural nail, the nail plate must be excessively 'roughed' up in order for it to adhere, which leaves the nail plate very thin and weak. MMA is extremely hard and will not soak off easily. It is removed with an electric file (drill) which could potentially damage your nail plate. It is also an extremely high sensitizer and very likely to cause an allergic reaction through skin exposure. MMA is best avoided where possible.

Nails - Safety and Hygiene

All files and implements are fully sanitised in between clients. I do not use any products that contain MMA . Your natural nail condition is of the utmost importance to me, so you can be assured that you are in safe and hygienic hands. You'll be pleased to note that I am a fully insured member of BABTAC. A full consultation is given prior to each treatment.
Should you wish to have your enhancements removed, please make an appointment to see me and I will ensure that they are removed safely. Picking or biting them off will damage and weaken your natural nails.
If you think about it, nails take approximately 6 months to grow from cuticle to free edge, that is potentially 6 months of walking around with unsightly damaged nails. So for the sake of a few pounds, its worth having them removed properly!
